00:00:06.620 --> 00:00:12.599
in this video we're going to learn how to set out lines for HTML elements an

2
00:00:12.599 --> 00:00:18.330
outline is a line that's drawn around the edge HTML elements and unlike

3
00:00:18.330 --> 00:00:23.490
borders the outline is not taken into account in the dimensions of the element

4
00:00:23.490 --> 00:00:31.650
and also outlines are used to make elements stand out okay so the syntax is

5
00:00:31.650 --> 00:00:37.350
pretty easy so if we set that for a Facebook we're gonna use I'm gonna

6
00:00:37.350 --> 00:00:45.289
define first of all a style using outline style and let's go for a solid

7
00:00:45.289 --> 00:00:51.629
then I'm going to define a color for the outline let's choose a color to make

8
00:00:51.629 --> 00:01:02.719
this element stand out so if we go for something like Perry

9
00:01:10.180 --> 00:01:16.570
okay it's just something like this so the best color but anyway so and then

10
00:01:16.570 --> 00:01:22.360
gonna define a width for the outline using outline width and we're not

11
00:01:22.360 --> 00:01:28.810
putting values here we're just gonna choose pick and here we go so you can

12
00:01:28.810 --> 00:01:33.760
see the Facebook element with an outline outside the elements surrounding the

13
00:01:33.760 --> 00:01:38.860
elements and again it's not taken into account in the dimensions of the

14
00:01:38.860 --> 00:01:41.550
elements
