00:00:04,000 --> 00:00:07,990
Hi! I'm Bill Weinman, and I'd like to welcome you to Python 3 Essential Training.

2
00:00:08,000 --> 00:00:11,990
Python is a modern object-oriented programming language that's well-suited for a

3
00:00:12,000 --> 00:00:16,990
variety of uses, from simple scripts to complex web applications.

4
00:00:17,000 --> 00:00:20,990
In this course, I'll show you how to use Python and how to take advantage of its

5
00:00:21,000 --> 00:00:22,990
unique and powerful features.

6
00:00:23,000 --> 00:00:25,990
I'll start by giving you an overview of Python, so that you can get

7
00:00:26,000 --> 00:00:26,990
started right away.

8
00:00:27,000 --> 00:00:30,990
This quick start is designed for the experienced programmer who wants to

9
00:00:31,000 --> 00:00:34,990
leverage their existing knowledge to start using Python quickly and with as

10
00:00:35,000 --> 00:00:35,990
little detail as necessary.

11
00:00:36,000 --> 00:00:39,990
Then we'll get right into the details of the language, its syntax and structure,

12
00:00:40,000 --> 00:00:44,990
exception handling, functions, classes and Python's powerful object model.

13
00:00:45,000 --> 00:00:48,990
I'll show you how to do common tasks in Python, including file layout, databases

14
00:00:49,000 --> 00:00:52,990
and web development, and I'll show you how to use modules to leverage your work

15
00:00:53,000 --> 00:00:56,990
and the work of others to get your projects done faster and with less effort.

16
00:00:57,000 --> 00:01:00,990
Finally, I'll walk you through some real-world examples of working Python

17
00:01:01,000 --> 00:01:04,990
code, so you can see how the pieces fit together and to help you get started

18
00:01:05,000 --> 00:01:06,990
on your own projects.

19
00:01:07,000 --> 00:01:08,990
This course is designed for programmers.

20
00:01:09,000 --> 00:01:12,990
If you already have some programming experience in at least one other modern

21
00:01:13,000 --> 00:01:14,990
language, this course is for you.

22
00:01:15,000 --> 00:01:17,990
I've been a programmer since the `70s, and I've used many different languages

23
00:01:18,000 --> 00:01:20,990
over the years, and I'm really excited about Python.

24
00:01:21,000 --> 00:01:25,990
I'm glad to be able to share this knowledge and experience with you, so that you

25
00:01:26,000 --> 00:01:27,990
can write better applications today.

26
00:01:28,000 --> 00:01:38,000
Now, let's get started with Python 3 Essential Training.
